The Forbes Team Competition is designed to build skills, foster camaraderie, and give every pilot — from supervised to advanced — a genuine taste of competitive hang gliding.
The Format
Teams of 3-6 are balanced across experience levels, each led by a seasoned team leader. Every morning: a briefing, a task, a shared launch, and a flight to goal — scored by glider category with a handicap system.
You'll work your instruments, read the weather, fly a course, chase goal, and download your flight. Whether it's your first comp or your fiftieth, you'll leave a better pilot.

The paddock north of Forbes Airport, via Dr Young Drive.

Entry Fee: $250
Includes:
- Team placement
- Weather briefings & task presentations
- BMIA site fees

Camping: Available at the Aero Club — $15/person/night (payable to the Aeroclub)
Towing
Tow Fee: Pay as you go
- 1000’ Tow $25
- 2000’ Tow $50
Eligibility
Open to all pilots with:
- Current SAFA membership
- Aerotow endorsement
- VHF endorsement
What to Bring
- Hang glider (well maintained)
- Harness (well maintained)
- GPS or GPS/vario
- Tow release and bridle
- Recently repacked parachute
- Helmet
- VHF radio
- Current HGFA membership card
